What do membership fees cover?

Membership represents a minimum contribution towards the running cost of London Region CND. We hope that groups and individuals who can afford more will also contribute to our annual appeal in September.

Our running costs include digital software platform costs, permanent part-time London CND employee salary & NI; required national CND costs such as region membership, contribution to CND public liability insurance (which covers LRCND and local CND group events); online and in-person events; administrative costs (postage, stationary, photocopying, printing etc), subscriptions & affiliations, and more...

What do members get in return?

ENTITLEMENT

Group membership entitles you to:

  • nominate a group representative to participate in monthly committee meetings and provides a means of networking with other Greater London groups, and

  • make nominations, submit motions, and vote in LRCND’s annual general meeting.

Individual membership is open to all individuals who live in the Greater London area. In the case of those who live in a locality with no local group, it allows you to belong to and take part in LRCND business, entitling you to:

  • stand for election to the LRCND committee

  • participate in LRCND AGM with the right to make nominations, submit motions, and vote, and

  • take part in LRCND member-only events.

BENEFITS

LRCND grows CND’s public presence across the Greater London area, to the benefit of local groups. We:

  • circulate a monthly group newsletter to groups and individuals promoting London and national CND activities, and highlighting peace and anti-war activities in London.

  • hold online and in-person London-wide public events, and

  • provide London CND speakers for London organisations, and contribute occasional comments to blogs and newsletters.

FOR LOCAL CND GROUPS

  • LRCND promotes local group events across all our digital platforms (X, Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify, and London CND website) and in our monthly subscribers e-newsletter (which goes to almost 4,000 subscribers).

  • Our podcasts link with partner organisations to cover broader issues of relevance to the peace movement. They connect London CND with a wider audience by focussing on topics such as the recent podcast with Together Alliance acting chair Kevin Courtney, Angie Zelter, founder of Lakenheath Alliance for Peace, and Peter Burt of Drone Wars UK on the use of new technology in warfare.

  • We provide practical support for group activities and events – helping produce printed material, providing zoom and other technical facilities, assisting with launch events, etc.
