Join Lambeth & Southwark CND in Brixton

By Mark Howell,

We met in-person in June to discuss future activities, and decided to campaign to raise awareness of the need to divest from nuclear weapons and arms manufacture and to emphasise alternative spending priorities – such as NHS, housing, education. One of our members shared the Medact, toolkit on divestment, Don’t Bank on the Bomb.

We’ll be working with dED, Demilitarise Education, on student-focused campaigning in local universities or colleges – in particular London College of Communication at Elephant and Castle, London Southbank University, on Borough Road, and King's College Waterloo Campus.

Lambeth & Southwark CND also plans to join other groups at diverse events around London for the eightieth anniversary of Hiroshima Day and Nagasaki Day on 6 and 9 August.

The group met again on 12 July to finalise the details of some of our activities:

Windrush Square, Brixton SW2 1JQ at 12 noon Saturday 30 August, with a literature table and banner, to leaflet and engage in discussion with visitors to our stall.

We’re taking our literature table and banner to St Thomas’ Hospital, SE1 7EH, at 12 noon on Saturday 20 September, to do the same.
